Lighthouse Bed And Breakfast Hotel
Location: 421 S Harrison St Mcgregor, Texas 76657
Rating:
The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, offering one of the best bed and breakfast experiences in Texas, is located in the Waco area near the ranch of President George W. Bush. This historic turn-of-the-century Queen Anne Victorian home with a gingerbread-trimmed front porch, is ideal for romantic getaways and group retreats. The Lighthouse also caters to business travelers with a quiet setting where the focus is on personal service and attention. Built in 1894, this beautifully restored home features the romance, tradition and charm of the 19th century. A delightful breakfast is served, usually in the formal dining room, with china, crystal and old linens on a candle-lit century-old dining table. Sometimes the occasion calls for breakfast on the porch or in the gazebo, which has a stained glass ceiling. Homemade banana nut bread or made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls are often served. On-site amenities include meeting facilities, business services and a beautiful parlor. Relax on the wrap-around porch in the swing or rocking chairs, and enjoy the breeze and listen to the birds. Antique furnishings accent every room. A wonderful feature of the formal dining room is the 1880's dining table, chairs and sideboards passed down through the years in the owner's family. Featured in the parlor is a tete-a-tete, which is believed to have been passed down seven generations from a relative who came over on the Mayflower. The many stained-glass windows in the house add a special ambiance to this lovely home.
Each lovely guestroom is decorated with cherished family heirlooms and other selected antiques arranged in a romantic setting that offers comfort and gives special attention to detail. All rooms feature a private bath, air conditioning, alarm clock radio, iron and ironing board, and ceiling fans. Each room also has cable television and VCR, and direct-dial phone with high-speed Internet access except for the honeymoon cottage, which has a television without cable. The cottage has a front porch with furniture, a den, separate bedroom, and a kitchen area.
