Anchors Gate B&B is situated on beautiful Shad Bay, a deep but calm bay in the community of Bayside. Close to the open ocean, the bay provides shelter to weary sailors, a livelihood to fisherman, and a playground to all sea lovers. With surrounding patios, the lush gardens, peaceful waters, and feeding birds can be enjoyed by those seeking a relaxing hideaway, yet the attractions of Halifax City is only 20 minutes away. Guests will wake up in the morning to the aroma of a delicious breakfast being cooked. After eating the hearty meal, guests are able to take a peaceful stroll through the gardens or wander through the inn. Upon entering the sun room there is an abundance of information on all areas of Nova Scotia, accompanied by a guided visual tour of the Nova Scotia Map by the innkeeper. The dining room, overlooking the bay, is where strangers become friends and features hearty home cooked meals complete with homemade jams. The home includes many nautical artifacts collected world wide over the years, each with a story to tell.
Guests will enjoy these quaint and simple rooms. Each room comes with an alarm clock radio, cable TV, ceiling fan, hair dryer, and smoke detectors. Guests can enjoy watching the stars at night from their own balcony/patio, too. For guests who rent the apartment, they will have the luxury of a coffeemaker, desk, a full kitchen including a refrigerator, and a living/dining room to eat and mingle in. They will also have a washer and dryer. No matter what room guests stay in, they will be pleasantly pleased with the rooms and the service of the inn.

Stay right at the divided HWY and head towards Halifax/Bedford. Take HWY 102 to Exit 1A, heading towards Peggy's Cove. Take Exit 2B which goes to Route 333. The in is the community of Bayside a few miles down.

| At Anchors Gate Bed and Breakfast, there is the best of both worlds - the cosmopolitan of Halifax, 20 minutes one way, and the glacier rocks of Peggy's Cove, 20 minutes the other way. Halifax, the "City of Trees" is noted for its beautiful Victorian public gardens, the Maritime Museum, featuring a special exhibit of the Titanic, Citadel Hill (A Historical Fort), five universities, and an abundance of restaurants and entertainment. As part of the "Lighthouse Route" / "Light House Trail", and in less then a 30 minute drive, visitors can explore a variety of craft shops & art galleries, and try such activities as kayaking, canoeing, whale watching, bird watching, golfing, and talking a quiet walk on the sandy beaches. Within an hours drive, visitors can explore the Mahone Bay / Lunenburg area (famous for ship building), ride the white water of the worlds highest tides, pet native animals at the zoo, taste test wine at a local winery, and pick fresh fruit in Annapolis Valley.
